Rescue Engine 58 (RE58) is a 2007 E-One Typhoon with a 6 person cab. This unit is powered by a Cummins ISL 425 HP motor. It has a 1500 gpm Hale single stage rear-mount pump with a 600 gallon tank. The compliment of hose that RE58 carries is (1)100′- 1-3/4″ front bumper line, (2) 150′- 1-3/4″ rear pre-connects, (2) 200′- 3″ preconnected blitz lines for use with ground monitors, (2) 12′ suction hoses, and 1000′ of 5″ LDH supply line. RE58 is also equipped with a deck gun with stacked tips, mounted atop the body, and a TFT Blitzfire ground monitor stored in the rear pump panel compartment. For 120V power, RE58 includes an Onan 20KW hydraulic generator, 360 degree body mounted quartz lighting, and also a Will-Burt Nightscan 4-head light tower. This unit’s primary response duties include responding to MVA’s, Rescues, and Medical calls, and is the second-out apparatus on all structure fire related incidents. RE58 is equipped with Holmatro Pentheon battery powered rescue tools, as well as ResQTec hydraulic tools. The Holmatro Pentheon tools consist of a Spreader, O-cutter, and Combi tool, all with spare batteries and kept charged through shoreline power, with the ability to charge through the on-board generator. The ResQTec system consists of a pre-connected electric powered trimo hydraulic pump that is attached to (3) 100′ reels to power the ResQTec tools. The pre-connected hydraulic tools on the reels are a Combi-Tool, O-cutter, and a Spreader. We also carry (3) Rams as well as a gas powered backup / portable hydraulic pump. RE58 is also equipped with a ResQTec airbag system which includes (3) interlocking airbags. This unit carries a large amount of hand tools as well. RE58 also carries various medical equipment, including an AED. This unit previously served the Mantua Township Fire Department of New Jersey and their community before being acquired by our department in 2019.
